Reinventing Cornwall: City Looks to Update its Image

May 14, 2007

As part of its overall economic development strategy, the City of Cornwall is undergoing a re-branding effort to deal with inaccurate and outdated impressions that people may have, and to reflect the transition from a manufacturing-based to a more diversified economy. The ultimate goal is to attract tourists, new businesses, and new residents to the city, but the process starts by taking a good hard look in the mirror.

The branding strategy that BSL is developing in conjunction with the city is taking a very grassroots approach. Through a series of discussion forums, we’ve been gathering opinions and perspectives from stakeholders — business officials, community leaders, residents, and even outside businesses — to arrive at a consensus about Cornwall's image today, and how that can be shaped into the future.

Banfield-Seguin will eventually be developing a new visual identity, and an integrated marketing plan to extol the benefits of living and working in Cornwall.
